Equity and Diversity Statement

The CMA stands with all BIPOC women, men, children and 2SLGBTQ+ people in their outrage of the dehumanizing racism and discrimination that is entrenched in our society. We acknowledge that racism and other forms of discrimination are a systemic as well as an individual problem that inflicts profound emotional, physical, and psychological injury on our BIPOC communities and individuals. The CMA is committed to examining our role in this system and to educating ourselves and our registrants about dismantling individual biases, and deconstructing racist and discriminatory beliefs, assumptions, and practices. The road ahead is long, and mistakes will be made, however we firmly believe in the importance of equity for all people and are committed to action. Respectfully submitted from the Staff and Council of the College of Midwives of Alberta.
